There are a lot of rumors that Microsoft is planning to create its Zune media player in order to compete with the iPhone. Moreover, some rumors say it will be introduced with the launch of Windows Mobile 7.
Also there were some unconfirmed reports saying that Microsoft is going to build Zune functionality into its smartphone operating system.
But still some sources say that the next version will come with a user interface that looks like the one found on the Microsoft Zune. As it is focused on video and music, it will be based on the Zune’s desktop application but not the Windows Mobile Device Center.
Probably Windows Mobile 7 will have similar features compared to the iPhone. It will not have backup for running multiple applications simultaneously, and users cannot install applications from an online store.
Because of all alterations, the new version of the operating system will not be able to run the current software.
Companies that develop devices based on this operating system will not be able to customize it as they do it these days.
As for the business usurers they will be offered a second edition of Windows Mobile 7. It will come with standard features and will be compatible with other apps.

So, Windows Phone 7 resembles Zune.
Will that help it?
The Zune HD interface was liked by critics. But the public did not want it. If it came out 6 years before it did, it would have been a big hit. But coming in late to market, and copying an established and entrenched competitor (iPod), is a different matter. The Zune simply failed.
The same thing is going to happen in the phone world. Microsoft’s new Zune-like phone platform will not be able to compete against iPhone.
Google’s Android could only do it because it found an opening in the handset OEM market, of licensing its OS to other manufacturers. Someone was always going to take the OEM market, whatever iPhone did, and Google took it. Now Google’s Android OS is also established, with positive momentum.
Microsoft was just too late. The market has been taken. The only way to dislodge Android and iPhone at this stage, is to come out with a revolutionary product, which Microsoft won’t. The only way Windows Phone 7 can go is to fail, just like Zune did.
This is good news… microsoft made a comeback with windows 7 OS on computers… lets hope windows mobile 7 will be even half as good on smartphones.
