The Newest SiS chipset

It has been a while since SiS launched their chipset and now their back to the market with their mainboard chipset 672 and 968. SiS 672 is designed as Northbridge chipset, while SiS 968 is for Southbridge.

The SiS 672 is designed to work with Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Pentium D and Pentium 4 processor and it support Hyperthreading Technology. This latest SiS chipset also support the newest Intel processor, which is Intel Atom.

SiS 672 chipsets support FSB 800/533 and it’s also support single channel DDR2 667/533 memory system. Another feature is onboard graphical SiS mirage 3+. It is used to support DirectX 9.0 and pixel shader 2.0. This shared memory support up to 256MB and using the PCI-e x1 to communicate with other components

The SiS 968 as a Southbridge chipset will supply supporting feature. It supported SATA II for storage connections while its also provide 8 USB 2.0/1.1 ports. This pair of SiS chipset is not only used on ordinary desktop computers, but also on nettop.

This newest SiS chipset has a very good performance and the best thing is its low power consumption. Idle consumption power is only 11 Watt, and a little raise to 16 Watt when it is full load. If you are using your computers for a long time non-stop, then you will need to consider using this chipset.
