Users started to complain concerning battery issues. They received premature warnings that the power is exhausted and also there were demands to replace the battery.

According to Microsoft, the problem was in the Windows 7 tool that is responsible to identify when the battery is drained. The problem was discovered together with the partners of Microsoft that happens to be connected with system firmware (BIOS).

In June 2009 there was a thread on Microsoft’s support site related to Windows 7 battery problems and remains active. There are a lot of messages that were posted on Tuesday.

Some users agreed with Microsoft that the warnings are false, but still there are a number of people that believe the problem is in the operating system and it crippled batteries. Another part of users say that their batteries underperformed and decided to return to Windows XP or Vista versions or even switch to Linux.

The company claimed that the new notebooks could not hold a charge. Moreover, laptop owners are considered to be not the only ones who came across battery irregularities in Windows 7.

At present Microsoft together with its partners are working in order to identify the root cause and are going to update the support forum with further information and guidance.
