Intel is going to introduce its six-core chips created for leading desktops and servers. They will be lunched in the first half of the year.

The latest Westemere architecture of the company is considered to be the base of the six-core chips. They will consist of 1.17 billion transistors and will have 12MB of cache. They are made of 32-nanometer process that was introduced in the latest Core processors in January. But still the chips will not have built-in graphics capabilities. So it means the users will have to purchase a discrete graphics card in order to work with the chips.

Intel decided not to uncover the whole details about the new chips. But still it is thinking to give a code-name like Gulftown. The Gulftown processor will come under the Core i7 brand name.

The company provides a six-core Xeon processor that come under the code-name as Dunnington. The new six-core Westmere-EP chip will also be provided under the Xeon brand name. But it will be available with speed and security enhancements.

Westmere will also have a new instruction for servers due to which it will be possible to know how to make data encryption and decryption called Advanced Encryption Standard faster.

The six-core processors are empowered with new power management technologies. Apart from such chips, Intel is also developing an eight-core chip that has the code-name as Nehalem-EX.

The NAND flash technology based memory would provide extended storage capacity to devices. The technology would be able to enlarge the storage capacity of such devices as Smartphones, music and media players, and SSDs.

The chipzila offers the 8GB NAND die to vendors that is based on the latest Lithography technology. It is expected that the production will be expanded by next quarter. Due to the new technology it will be possible to design chips that will come with smaller and higher-density designs.

It was admitted by both companies that possible to diminish the size of die but they are coming across some technology problems. The new NAND flash would be produced by Intel and Micron’s joint venture IM Flash Technologies (IMFT).

During the fourth quarter of 2009, Advanced Micro Devices obtained share due to worldwide processor shipments by means of its competitor Intel. Microprocessor shipments grew by 31.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2009 if compare with the same quarter in 2008.
Intel delivered 80.5 percent of PC microprocessors across the world within the fourth quarter that is considered to be a drop from an 81.9 percent share in 2008.
But it should be mentioned that AMD achieved it s first success in the first quarter of 2009. It is the period when delivery of Intel processors turned to be aggressive on price.
In September AMD launched newer as well as faster laptop processors that represented the Turion II X2 and Athlon lines. The processors offer improved graphics capabilities as well as energy efficiency. But not so long ago Intel refreshed its line of laptop and also desktop processors and released new energy-efficient chips that were built in the graphics processor and CPU.
AMD got Intel’s market share in such categories as desktop and laptop processor. AMD’s laptop-processor market share went up to 12.7 percent while Intel’s laptop processor share decreased to 87.3 percent. Moreover, AMD achieved success in the desktop processor market.

Intel was planning to release its first 32nm products from the Westmere family at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show on Tuesday. President Paul Otellini will deliver his speech and release the desktop Clarkdale and mobile Arrandale CPUs.

The details that many users were waiting for are now available, even one can known the price. It is expected that 7 Clarkdale CPUs and eleven Arrandale CPUs will be at launch. Unfortunately, none of the new chipsets are equipped with USB 3.0 or 6Gbps SATA.

The Westmere family is a dual-core 32nm die shrink that comes with a built in 45nm graphics chip. The integrated memory controller can be moved from the CPU die to the GPU die that will allow to enlarge memory access for graphics. Also a user will be able to find instructions that will help with the decryption as well as encryption of data that is based on the Advanced Encryption Standard called AES-NI.

Majority of the new CPUs will be powered with Turbo Modethat allows a dynamic overclocking to run. Intel’s newest chips are designed for mainstream consumers. But one should be mentioned that ATI’s switchable graphics technology will be integrated in chips.
