Google’s Chrome Will Be Available with Extensions

For the big opening of Chrome’s new gallery its creators offered a full library of extensions as well as add-ons. Surprisingly it didn’t weigh too much.

Because of Chrome’s extensibility lack, it is impossible to have a place on the online workbench. But due to this there is a possibility that developer will alter Chrome’s extensions in the beta phase.

An extension is like an “app” on a handset. It is regarded as an icon and a special place on Chrome’s main bar, to the right of the address box.

Chrome’s single text box accomplish double tasks, i.e. like a an address box and a search box, you should know if you have decided to write something into the Omnibox, it won’t be translated as a Web address, then Chrome transfers it to Google in order to process there. As Chrome is considered to be a fast browser, no time will be lost.

According to Google, in the Chrome’s new Extension Library a users is able to find a third-party extension that comes under the name Search box. Due to such extension one can add a magnifying glass icon to the Chrome toolbar.

But still there is another option, besides it is more convenient, i.e. just add a permanent, separate search box. But it should be mentioned that it is not a development model for Chrome created by Google.

Many rivals say that it is impossible to look for search engine because of Chrome, moreover there are large chunks of real estate in the browser among them one can see Bing, Yahoo, Ask.com.

Chrome Is the No.3 Browser across the World

Google’s Chrome has become the third well-known browser in the world for 16 months after its release.

As for Internet Explorer, it lost practically a full percentage point in December.

By the end of December, the share of Chrome amounted 4.63%. Apple’s Safari had 4.46% and as a result it dropped into fourth place.

It should be noted that Chrome’s December augmented by 0.7 of a percentage point, such success can be explained by the fact that the company launched the beta edition for Mac and Linux three weeks ago.

Despite the fact Safari held the 4th position, it is not at a stop, as it increased it share by 0.1 of a percentage point. Opera Software’s flagship browser also achieved success in December, as its share totaled 2.4% of all browsers used in the month that is considered to be a record for the Norwegian-made program.

But at the same time Mozilla Firefox lost 0.1 of a percentage point, its share amounted to 24.6%. Microsoft was the trend for years, but unfortunately its IE dropped by 0.92 of a percentage point to 62.7%. For the last six months, IE came crashing down an average of 0.94 of a percentage point.

In 2008 Google released the open-source browser trying to ask why anyone needed another browser after the creation of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Mozilla’s Firefox, and Apple’s Safari. Only in2009 the company managed to answer that question, due to Chrome it is possible not only to speed up the Web but to rebuild it base.

The aim of Google is to quicken the Web–launching faster, loading pages faster, and running Web-based JavaScript programs faster.

JavaScript was considered to be the first step, displayed in Google’s processing-intensive Chrome Experiments site. Then was the integration of Chrome with two technologies for quickening Web applications like Google’s O3D for 3D graphics and Native Client software for quickening the whole processing.

But the major step was done when it was announced that Chrome OS can be used by Linux. By the end of this year the company launched a beta version of Chrome fro Linux and Mac.

Despite the fact that Chrome stole some ideas from Firefox, Mozilla’s browser was hardly pushed aside. Firefox usage grew steadily up to about 25 percent across the world in 2009. It is considered to be a big number of population that makes Mozilla’s effort to upgrade the Web

New Delhi: Since Google Chrome has been launched, it has increasingly becoming popular and a favorite amongst users due to its capability of loading pages faster than other browsers.

Claudio Mueller from Germany’s Chip magazine says, “The browser isn’t going to score many points for frills, but its speed does turn heads. It’s trimmed down for that purpose and it beats Internet Explorer and Firefox in that area.”

The core of the approach is the multi-process technology; JavaScript engines and plug-ins don’t run in sequence as is the case for other browsers. They run parallel to one another. Even if one tab is running slower, it won’t bring the entire browser.

Another advantage is that as soon as a tab is closed, the process is closed with it. Its memory is then available again for use. That’s helpful for users who keep a lot of browser windows open at once.

But Google Chrome is also criticized in terms that several of Chrome’s functions are limited to the point of making them useless – such as the print function.

Its inability to micromanage what JavaScript blocks and what it allows. JavaScript is an almost unavoidable element in the depiction of most pages, but it is a security risk.

Google’s browser has also drawn criticism for weak data security. Information like web searches are sent to the company with an identification number, Mueller says.

Users have to make a call whether they are willing to install Chrome.

Acer Releases the Netbook Based on Google Chrome OS

Acer will become the first producer that will release the netbook based on Google Chrome OS.

According to unknown sources Acer has been evolving its Chrome OS netbook since mid-2009. Several months before the company launched its dual-boot Windows XP/Google Android netbook.

DigiTimes says that the netbook did not find the market as it was expected.

Despite of the D250′s fate, Acer can be sure that a Chrome OS device will be in demand. One should note that Acer is working not only with Google Chrome OS devices but also with several producers such as Asus, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, and Toshiba. But still a specific day of the netbook based on Google Chrome OS launch was not mentioned.

But it does not mean that a user has to wait six months or more in order to install Google Chrome OS on a netbook. As there are manufacturers that produced created builds based on Chromium OS. It is possible to avail Chrome OS on a bootable USB key or one can use a version that is designed for the Dell mini 10v.

The only drawback is that a user becomes dependable for any system updates. Actual Chrome OS devices will update automatically in the background. But in case you are ready for experiments then one can bring Chrome OS products to market.

What Do You Need to Know When Using Dell’s Chrome OS

Dell launched Chrome OS for its Mini Inspiron 10v netbook. One should note that this is an experimental version of the operating system.

Lately, Google introduced the code for its new Chrome OS that can be found on select netbooks in late 2010. All activity on the device will be kept in the secret.

Before the netbook finds the market, Google gave the task to developers to work with its code and create its own versions of Chrome OS.

Anson warned those users that are going to use Dell’s version.

In order the ChromiumOS network connection manager can detect the access points and connect to the Web, the process will take up to 10 minutes.

Also the connection manager and underlying components are able to break or even freeze. In this case it is advised to reboot your computer and again try to connect. In order to reboot the image, you will have to press the ‘power’ key.

Mozilla Firefox downloads touch one billion mark

Yesterday, with a tweet and a website launch marking the instance, the browser Mozilla Firefox hit the download mark of one billion.
The browser is seen as the closest rival of Microsoft Internet Explorer, and is being followed closely by Google Chrome. Since it was launched in 2002, it has become very popular.

After the Mozilla Firefox 3.5, it has become even more famous for its speed, its several modes and the add-ons.

Twice as fast as the 3.0, the latest update has a lot more like the awesome bar, tabs, site identity and top security are still intact.

Firefox to follow the path of Chrome?

Some doubtfully Chrome like designs have been shown by the recently revealed mockups of Firefox 3.7 and 4.0.

A significant visual makeover seems to be the objective of Firefox. The Firefox UI has somewhat changed during its life, this can however, possibly be the most significant change by far.

The mockups for the Firefox 3.7 showcase using the Aero Glass effects present in Windows Vista and 7.

There is a glass effect on the entire navigation toolbar, and the tabs and looks much the same as the Internet Explorer. There is a tools and bookmarks button instead of the menu bar.

Going one step further, the designs of Firefox 4 integrate the search and location bar, and combine the stop, refresh and go buttons into one multifunction button. The loading process is displayed by the elegant green glowing “underline”.

Chrome is appreciated for its simplicity but not liked for the lack of functionality and extensibility it suffers from. But if the path of Chrome is taken up by Firefox, the best of both the worlds can be brought together.
