According to the US Patent & Trademark Office’s online database, Sony is going to develop a Universal Game Console Controller due to which the company may occupy the growing market for gaming accessories.

The LCD touch-screen gamepad is able to compete with controllers created for Nintendo systems, Microsoft systems and also some older legacy hardware.

The LCD screen will have the button layout of the gamepads that is able to keep three types of control schemes simultaneously. Also there will be a special receiver that will be responsible for passing controller data, moreover, the pad will have rumble functions and built-in speakers.

It should be mentioned that the U.S. retail market slumped 13 percent in January while accessories increased by 2 percent over January of 2009.
