The creative gaming company, Activision Blizzard Inc, recently revealed that the sales of the company’s one the best selling games, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, has already reached more than $1 billion all over the world. It became the hottest and most purchased game since Blizzard launched it in the market last November 10.
When asked about the number of units sold, Blizzard did not disclose any figure. However, it is estimated that there are about 15 million units sold all in all. During the first week in the store shelves, there were already 8 million units sold and has reached as much as $550 million in sales.
This simply means that the second Call of Duty will generate more sales than the first version of Call of Duty. In 2007, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sold 14.4 million unites according to sources.
As of today, the Modern Warfare 2 is considered as one of the top bestselling video game ever. Along with this are the Super Mario and the Grand Theft Auto series as well.
Although it can be quite difficult to compare the sales of movie ticket to the video game units, Blizzard believes that the Call of Duty 2 is now the Avatar of the gaming market.
