For the last months a lot of news headlines were dedicated to the Apple iPad. One should not forget that Palm was also in the headlines but for different reasons. Probably it would be possible for Palm to regain its former glory as well as reverse its fortunes, in case the company could back to its PDA roots, it could create a tablet PC in order to rival with the iPad.

In fact, the future of Palm is not so bright as it may seem. But one should admit that various strategies could lead to entirely different results, the thing is that Palm is dragging in last place in terms of the smartphone market.

Bust still fans of Palm are sure that it is a superior smartphone platform. Those who are the owners of the Palm Pre or some other WebOS-based smartphone from Palm believe that it is really good.

In fact, Palm has a proud heritage. The Palm PDA was regarded as a ubiquitous business tool. It is necessary for business professionals to have a Palm in order to sync up calendar events as well as contact databases. Before making smartphones a Palm PDA was a company that offered cell phones for mobile business professionals.

It is hoped that Palm will start compete seriously in the smartphone market.
