Nokia Offers Free Ovi Maps

Nokia smartphone owners are getting free access to the companies mapping as well as navigation software.

The latest version known as Ovi Maps created by Nokia covers 180 countries and comes with turn-by-turn voice guidance designed for drivers and walkers. It is available in 74 countries and in 46 languages.

According to Nokia the software is based on hybrid vector maps that are of high quality but have less data intensive. The company claims that it is able to work even if the connection is lost. It is possible to preload the maps on the phone and they can be used in offline mode.

Users will be able to get a new look interface, speed camera warnings, traffic information and even integration with Facebook.

As for UK, handsets will be available with European maps, but still one can download maps and you don’t need additional licenses.

According to Nokia, the Ovi Maps will be bundled on smartphones and launched by the manufacturer from March this year.

But still those who have N97 Mini, the 5800XpressMusic and the E72 are able to download the mapping software from the Nokia;s website, moreover, it will be free of charge.
