Finally the Nexus One gets multi-touch that can be used for photo galleries, maps and the Web. It is considered to be good news as one more Android phone is getting pinch-to-zoom gestures. It was always unclear why such devices are not equipped with this function. According to rumors, Apple asked Google not to use multi-touch back when the two companies were in a good relationship.

It is still unknown whether Google is going to add multi-touch to older phones. But still some problems may arise with the Droid and G1 that avoid Google from launching a simple update.

There can be any problem, but there is a fact that both devices do not have multi-touch for core Android apps, moreover, both phone includes the hardware that is able to back up multi-touch gestures.

The Droid’s and G1′s missing multi-touch can be come an argument against Android’s fragmentation. It should be mentioned that Android phones are not similar, it means that they come with different hardware, versions of the operating system and user interfaces. The same feature such type of phones can have is Google Maps Navigation that was initially based on Android versions 2.0.

It is a bit strange that buying an Android phone you do not know for sure whether it is multi-touch enabled or not. Due to the flexibility of Android, users are able to decide on user interface and the hardware that will suit their needs.
