Mozilla has launched the first beta of its Thunderbird email client, called Lanikai Beta1. According to the company the software is developed for extension developers, testers, as well as “curious” early adopters.
Lanikai is considered to be an extension to Thunderbird 3 and comes with a number of extra features as well as bug fixes dedicated for the Gecko engine.
According to Mozilla, Lanikai Beta 1 can be downloaded and is based on the Gecko 1.9.2 platform. Despite the fact that the milestone is stable, it is targeted at feedback and evaluation as well.
Bur still users of this latest alpha version of Thunderbird may experience some issues with their add-ons. In fact, the target of the launch is to identify possible problems caused by the alterations in the underlying platform.
The update involves tabs and activity manager functions, fixes to the auto-complete, and also a range of stability, design and memory improvements.
As for the issues, they are the following: the likelihood of losing passwords when a user is trying to switch between versions of Thunderbird, and also problems related to the Kaspersky Anti-Spam Extension.
