Microsoft is going to launch a small-scale pilot of a microblogging service which is targeted at business users.
But still the company did not disclose a lot of details concerning the service, but it turned out that internally the company tested it and now it is searching for customers that would like to participate in a pilot test.
The service comes under the name of OfficeTalk, due to which employees are able to share brief bits of information. Also they can post their activities, thoughts as well as potentially valuable information.
Now the company intends to test OfficeTalk together with other social-networking experiments with a few customers. Microsoft believes that it will be able to study technologies which are used by people as well as businesses.
It should be said that Micorosoft is following other companies that have already created microblogging software for businesses. One can remember StatusNet, SocialText, Yammer, Salesforce’s Chatter and Socialcast. All of them are considered to be microblogging products that can be used by enterprises.
Office Labs researchers also reported that they work on experiments that probably will not become live products. According to the blog, OfficeTalk is not regarded as a product, moreover, it is a research project which is aimed at learning how people can use social networking tools at work.
