Microsoft decided to provide access to Chinese hackers to human rights activists’ e-mail accounts.
The firm provides patches every month but because of the problem that occurred the company has to move in a more quickly way.
The company also advised citizens of France and Germany to find alternatives, i.e. to use other browsers.
According to security experts, it was discovered that malicious code underwent the weakness.
If a user visited a compromised site by means of a vulnerable browser, he could become infected with a “trojan horse” due to which a hacker could control the computer as well as steal sensitive information.
According to Microsoft, there were discovered few infected sites on the web.
Because of such event the rival of Microsoft Firefox is gaining market share.
According to analytics, Firefox has a share of 40% of the market that is close to Internet Explorer (IE) in Europe that has 45% share. In Austrian and German market Firefox left aside IE.
Because of the high profile attacks on Google, Microsoft said that IE was a “weak link”. More than 30 companies among them Google and Adobe were hit by attacks.
