Microsoft to introduce the latest refresh at the Microsoft to Introduce Its Latest Refresh at the Internet Explorer 9 Conference 10 conference

Microsoft started to distribute the first beta of Outlook Social Connector. It adds an activity list of each contact’s social network to Outlook. The beta release includes a version that backs up Outlook 2007 which has a new key feature that can cause the upgrade to Outlook 2010, it is known as People Pane.

At present you are able to use the 32-bit beta but you will have to wait for 64-bit Office 2007, this version will be able to work in 64-bit Windows. If you have installed the new People Pane, it will be available on Contacts as well as Mail panels. Moreover, it is also the new Outlook functionality that does not need social network connections. The People Pane is added into the latest Outlook 2010 Release Candidate, it means that there is no use to download the separate beta package. Due to the availability of the RC, you already have Social Connector. It is not so necessary to have any social network connections in order the People Pane could work.

According to tests, the Social Connector beta is able to collect photos of contacts from the existing database of Outlook but not from LinkedIn. One should note that if you want to add several people to LinkedIn but they are not in the list of Outlook contacts, no automatic device is available in Outlook that can be used for importing a LinkedIn contact as an Outlook contact.

Still it is expected that users will be able to use more social connectors but not from Microsoft.
