Google released its Chinese version of the site in 2006, but it has become popular among users in China.
The Chinees users use the site to transfer e-mails, look up maps as well as they translate materials from Chinese into English, or visa versa. But it should be mentioned that one can find other browsers that are much more popular in the country, among them is Baidu.com.
According to the US firm, it will censor China-based site together with official regulations.
In spite of the fact that the company achieved success among the Chinese users, many agree with China’s decision to censor the search engine.
Chinese users cannot get access results for such words as Tiananmen massacre.
Student Wang Xin who studies at the People’s University wants to have free access to information but it does not mean that everyone should have such right. He also said that China was a big country and not everyone is able to use the received information in a right way.
There were conducted demonstrations in the western region of Xinjiang last July the cause of which was the spread of information by text messages and the internet.
Demonstrations were shut down by the government, and now limited services are allowed to resume.
