Finally Twitter has added its location-sharing feature and offer it as an opt-in service. Twitter Co-founder Biz Stone and his team hope that the new feature will help boost Twitter.
Due to this new addition, Twitter is able not only to help its 70 million users discuss what is happening, but they will be able to know where it is happening. According to ReadWriteWeb’s Marshall Kirkpatrick, about 25 companies will have a possibility to make location-related announcements at SXSW.
Tweet works for Google Chrome on Windows as well as Mozilla Firefox 3.5. In order you want to use the new tool but you have old versions of these Web browsers, it necessary for you to download the Google Gears app.
To tweet with exact location a user should navigate to Hot to Tweet Your Location Web page and then click “Add a location to your tweets” which can be found in Twitter’s account settings page. After the Location has been set, users should click the crosshair icon which is located below the update box on the left. Afterwards, users will see Location below the update box.
As for Facebook, it is also going to introduce its own location-sharing service.
