Finally Facebook has become the second most popular website in the United States meaning the search giant left behind Yahoo. One should mention that Yahoo was the number one till 2008. Later Google overrun Yahoo and now it is made by Facebook.
Yahoo had 132 million unique visitors users in January 2010 while the figure of Facebook totaled 133 million. Bu still Google is considered to be the leader that boasts of 147.8 million unique visitor counts.
It is unknown whether Yahoo will be able to claw back in. But it would be interesting to see how close Facebook will become to Google. Now Google is the leader, but still nowadays everything changes quickly. One should not forget about Twitter that can threaten the Facebook’s position. Twitter has just 21.79 million unique visitors but it is increasing quickly.
At present American users spend 11.6% of their online time on Facebook, it is considered to be a big data if compare with Yahoo’s 4.25% and Google’s 4.1%. It is considered that Twitter is the only entity that is able to compete with Facebook in terms of this department.
