Facebook has touched a new record level of 150 million users so far, which is a huge jump of 50 million from April this year. These numbers have been reported by the social networking giant.
In a statement issued to the attendees at the Mobile Beat 2010 conference in San Francisco on Tuesday, Eric Tseng, and the head of mobile products of the Facebook told that ‘Mobile is fast becoming our growth lever.’ Now the company aims cell phones as the key platform for the growth in users in the future. It is expected that the cell based users of Facebook will be at per with its PC browser based interface. To ensure that, the company will soon update the application programming interfaces for Android and iPhone apps.
Another project that the company is working on is the social graph that includes and extends the features of Facebook onto the other sites to take benefits from the growing numbers of mobile users. The features for the users such as ratings of the local restaurants on the basis of the preferences of the users are one example of the future projects the company is planning for its growth. Facebook has worked with Indian carrier Airtel to set up a mobile-only user experience.
