Microsoft’s e-mail program Outlook has been now incorporated with Facebook status updates for the users. They can check the updates on the Outlook. Thus, Microsoft Outlook Social Connector has become a plug-in to blend social networking with e-mail.
In February, Microsoft had first started the plug-in with Linkedin and then it added MySpace in March. However, at present, Facebook can be used as a one-way traffic as you can only read status updates and you are able to look at photos but you cannot post your own updates. But such planning will be in place in the coming days.
But prior to Outlook, many other e-mail services have been incorporated with social networking site. Yahoo Mail had already started Facebook status updates in March. Hotmail had joined started it in May with Facebook and MySpace. Google’s Gmail had integrated with Google Buzz. Outlook is very popular in offices. But half of all U.S companies have banned Facebook and Twitter at work, as is now revealed in a new study. For such companies Facebook connected to Outlook may not go well with them. At the same time, it is being said that social networking helps in relating better with the clients in keeping up with their activities and interests.
