Charles Burnett III, driving the British Racing Green car broke a hundred year old record by making it to the top speed of 151.7mph, averaging out at 139.8mph over two runs of one mile.
This broke the previous record of 127.6mph which was set far back in 1906. The car is named as Inspiration and the record was set at an air base in California.

“It was absolutely fantastic”, said Mr. Burnett. “The car really did handle brilliantly. What we achieved is a true testament to British engineering, good teamwork and perseverance.”

The Inspiration is capable of producing steam fast enough to make 23 cups of tea a second but still lags behind the overall land speed record which stands at 763mph.
