Apple to launch iPhone 4 in 17 countries on July 30

Apple is all set for launching of its iPhone 4 in 17 countries on July 30. The smartphone will also be released for Australia, Italy, New Zealand and Switzerland. Already available in major international markets such as Japan and Germany, the phone has been sold to record number of users, though it had its own share of controversy.

The iPhone 4 has been sold to around 1.7 million units within three days of its June 24 release. But some customers soon complained about loss of signal when held in a particular way in hands. Apple on July 16 hosted a press conference to announce free rubber bumpers that cover the antenna rim. Apple On July 23 announced that its white iPhone 4 was proving “more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected,” and it would not be available until later in 2010.

Apple’s Website says,” If you purchase an iPhone 4 before Sept. 30, 2010, you are eligible to receive an iPhone 4 bumper or a select third-party case from Apple at no charge. For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, you must apply no later than Aug. 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase.”

According to the company those who purchased the bumper case from an AT&T store will require to fill out a rebate coupon and mail it to Apple by Sept. 30 while those who have already purchased a bumper from an Apple Retail Store using a credit card will be given an automatic refund; .
