Giving a nudge to Amazon, Apple entered the e-book reader market with the iPad. But still Amasone does not have enough time to make a counterstroke as in 50 days the iPad will appear in the market.

Amazon purchased the flexible touchscreen manufacturer known as Touchco in order to embed the technology into a future duplication of the Kindle e-reader. Moreover, the company is going to introduce an app store for the Kindle that is not going to be so limited as Apple’s.

With the help of the Toucho acquisition, Amazon can integrate multitouch capabilities to the Kindle, but still it is unknown whether the company is going to use color screens or not.  The Kindle app store is under development. Users will be able to find word games, location based travel guides and puzzles there.

But still the Kindle developer’s guidelines impose a ban on VoIP software and other apps that let reading books outside Amazon’s DRM, which means that the Kindle will not be a multi-purpose device but only an evolved e-reader.

It is very interesting to know whether Amazon could manage to maintain a low price point for the Kindle.
